Customer Service Exceptional I rented a video camera during the Holiday Season. I required some assistance with connecting to a monitor Jeff and Rodney went out of their way to work with me to figure out this issue. This was a low-cost item, and I was treated the same as if I had just spent thousands on a camera. I really appreciated this, and I highly recommend this store

Although I recently purchased my camera a month ago, I wanted to leave a review about their exceptional customer service. A few days ago, I helped a friend narrow down their choice of a camera they wanted by putting them in contact with Photo Center. Last month, I had the pleasure of speaking with Lauren, who was knowledgeable about the Canon G7x Mark II and Mark III. She provided me with detailed information about the waitlist process and the expected restocking dates. Lauren answered all my questions about the cameras and ultimately helped me make an informed decision. Unbeknownst to me, my brother, who had also purchased a Fujifilm X100VI from Photo Center, had actually already bought me the camera from them same day I called. My brother had been searching for that camera for quite some time now even going as far as finding someone to pick it up in Japan for him. However, he eventually stumbled upon the Photo Center. Now, we have two cameras from here and I’m hopeful that we’ll have more in the future!

I know it is a camera store, but how the hell does everybody walk past those telescopes without mention? Iv been looking for a telescope for a long time they a lot of money but nowhere else can you go and find a stage full of them that are not boxed up or behind glass and def not finding the selections they have. Iv seen ones I haven't even seen online there huge. Wish they would rent the telescopes that be cool but I understand people suck and it's prob not worth breaking a 7,000-10,000 telescope. Still yet to meet the man that sells the telescopes hes there during week and I can't get there cause of work but the other workers will definitely try to help you out. Cool place

I’ve been here three times now, and unfortunately my experience hasn’t been the best. The first time I dropped off 4 cameras to be looked at, I was told it would be $49.99. I later found out that was per camera, so two inspections cost me over $100. That could have been communicated more clearly.

When I got the cameras back, it didn’t seem like much had been done beyond a quick check to see if they worked—the lenses were still dirty and hadn’t been cleaned. I also put batteries in the One camera and I know it was operational when I dropped it off supposedly the batteries were dead and they took the batteries out.

I still decided to give them a second chance and purchased 3 pack of film, then brought in three rolls to be developed. Two came out fine, but one whole roll was completely blank except for a single image. Nobody mentioned this when I picked them up—I just paid full price ($55 total) and only realized later that one roll hadn’t exposed. A heads-up or explanation would have gone a long way.

After giving them more than one chance, I feel like I’ve been burned twice. I’m now out over $200 here, and the service has not matched the cost. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

The staff here is excellent! Everyone is knowledgeable about all their products. Most importantly, I never feel ignored here, no matter how busy they are. If you need any photo gear, buy it here! Support this great local shop!

Phenomenal service from the staff here. Jeff (The Owner) was patient and shared a wealth of knowledge even if you were just glancing. After 4 visits of shopping around, I landed on a Nikon that was perfect for me. Couldn't be happier.

This is the second time I picked photos up from them and photos are missing. If you’re using them to print photos MAKE SURE all of your photos are in the sleeve before leaving. Might want to just use somewhere more reliable.

After dreaming of a new camera for a long time I finally decided it was time. Brendan was so helpful in guiding me through my purchase. I don’t write reviews but this was a great experience. I was scammed on Facebook marketplace. I came in there to ask for help seeing if they can fix my camera. They were honest about the price and what it would be to fix (wasn’t worth fixing the old one). They sold me a used camera that was refurbished in my price range. I appreciate the honesty and quality service. I recommend them to my friends and I will be coming back soon when the time comes. 😊

Awesome gem of a shop for used, uncommon and rare finds. I've been a professional photographer for 31 years and this shop reminds me of the old days of buying gear. A must visit if your're in the area and looking for something hard to find or just enjoy browsing and the hunt for stuff to add to your kit!

The workers at this location are extremely helpful and super friendly! I came in to get my camera fixed and the process was both smooth and quick. I had a few unrelated questions about film transfers and they were very knowledgeable and willing to help as a team. They have a great selection of carrying cases as well that I couldn’t help but get one. Highly recommend taking your photography needs here!

My camera has been in for a minor door repair since August. First they called to make sure I agreed to the $89 dollar charge. Fine, not like I have many choices in Ocean County for old school camera repair. 6 weeks later I thought I’d check on it. The camera has sentimental value and giving my claim number I’m told to wait a little longer. Fine. Nearing the end of October last Thursday I thought I’d status again to be told a “repair would call me to discuss”. No call Friday. Tomorrow is November First and in no way do I like this sort of bad review thing but what else can I assume? One. This business is overwhelmed. Two. This business is disorganized. Three. My $89 repair means very little. I’m picking up at my earliest and heading to NYC with this camera. I’ll pay double.

My son goes here for photo Developing and his other photography needs, seems to really like it. We were with him one time and the store was much bigger than I expected lots and lots of camera photography items

TL;DR version...if you are a professional/semi-professional photographer this might be the place for you, but if you are looking for advice you might be better off just reading reviews and recommendations online. The staff, especially the hipster guy in the hat, is disinterested at best.

I have been to TPC three times...the first time was a Saturday morning and the place was packed with what seemed like a lot of regular customers which was good to see, but after 45 minutes I had to leave.

My latest visit was totally worthless. I recently sold a used bridge camera I initially purchased from TPC after finding that it was larger than heavier than what I want to travel with and had narrowed down my options based on conversations with a few friends and more research. I was ready to make a purchase, but wanted to be able to hold both before making a commitment. I thought that I asked some good questions, but I wanted some advice and I got nothing of value in response. Next time I go to NYC I will stop by B&H since they seem to have a better reputation.

Went along with my son to buy his first professional camera. They are experienced and knowledgeable here and answered all his questions. They helped get him into a camera that was perfect for his needs. The store has so many products and accessories on premises but can also order things if they don't have in stock. There are also printing services avail. Friendly staff and affordable prices keep bringing us back.

I just dropped a point-and-shoot off for repair here so I can't comment on that. What I can say is that the place looks and feels like a NYC shop from the 1970's camera district. It certainly seems worth checking out if you're in the market.

I wish I was leaving a higher review for a standalone camera store as not that many exist anymore. I walked in here and was very intrigued by the selection. Its always nice to see a shop selling 35mm film as that is what I primarily shoot. I happened to be driving through the area and had my Leica M6 on me so I went in to inquire about a 50mm lens. I had to wait a solid 5 minutes before being acknowledged by anybody. One party was being helped and there were at least 3 other people there. I was pointed to the other counter and again had to wait there while a woman was standing about 4 feet away completely ignoring me while working on something else - didn't really mind this at first but it all adds up later.... Once she finally asks me for help I told her what I was looking for and she calls the owner over. He said he has lenses that I would be interested in but would need time to go find them and dig them out and to hang out for a few minutes. I wasn't in a hurry but certainly didn't wanna spend a considerable amount of time in there. He told me that I was more than welcome to walk around and check out the selection of both film and film cameras. I checked out the film cameras and found nothing to be priced - and the only way to get a price was to ask somebody. Not a very preffered way to shop when everything is locked up and not even tagged visibly. I then went to go look at the film which was towards the counter, I had asked if I could approach the shelf since it was in an awkward spot. The woman told me "no you can't go right up to it but you can ask me questions about them"...Who in their right mind can read boxes of film from 10 feet away? I had to ask her to bring me ones individually in order to see what they had. Are you serious? Not to mention, the ones I asked about had a $7-10 markup compared to other small film retailers that were local to NJ that also sold online. I get supporting standalone camera stores is important but spending $7-10 extra per roll is absurd once you factor in processing and development. Not to mention, that entire time I was in there the owner decided to not even attempt to look for the lenses I was interested in. I had to walk out as there was zero drive to assist me or make a sale. Not sure if its because I look young and maybe they assumed I don't make enough money to afford their products or what it was but they clearly though of me as a waste of time. I will not go back and if you're looking for film anything check other NJ based stores first as their prices are very much marked up here to the point where you can be spending $100s more on used stuff per their website vs others. Again I really wish I had a better experience I have never dealt with a camera store like this having been to many over the years and loving every single one.

Jeff and The Photo Center team are so kind and knowledgeable, and they genuinely care about helping their customers to the best of their abilities. Jeff helped me find a camera after I'd been shopping around for one for months, just in time for my next vacation. They've helped me pick out different film types, camera lenses, and camera bodies. The experience there is way more personalized and focused than other big name camera shops, and it is the only place I'd recommend to anyone!! Definitely the place to fulfill all your camera needs!

Brought in pictures 50 years old, that meant a lot to my dad, and they were able to print and enlarge them.

John and his crew were the best. Great group of people who really enjoy their job and put customers first. 10/10 experience and will 100% be back.

Love just coming in to talk with the staff about cameras because of how personal they are! I also have a lens being fixed with them and it’s taking longer then expected so they offered me a lens to use for free while I wait!! 10/10 place!

Very nice to deal with. Good customer service. Error in my order a while back corrected IMMEDIATELY. Prices comparable to the big guys in NY but with a very high level of customer service and sales tax free if they ship out of Jersey. This means big savings on expensive gear. Update: I recently received my new Nikon Z9 from The Photo Center. I got mine so much faster than the folks that ordered from the "big guys". Brendan is great to work with. So glad to be doing business with this shop.

This is, unfortunately, not a good review, but I am not interested in tanking a small business with a low rating so I'm giving 4 stars. I just want to say my piece.

I brought my film camera in last year to get cleaned, tuned up and to get a replacement battery cap.

When I went in literally months later (I live far away, so I can't make the trip that often) They couldn't find my camera. Turns out it was just misplaced - randomly in a cabinet somewhere - but of course that meant it had just been sitting there, no work done on it - in months. (question - don't you put your slip work orders in the computer somewhere? How did a work order just get missed for months just because a camera was hiding in a cabinet?) They asked if I could "just come back at 5 pm" - I live far, I was leaving on a trip the next day, and I could not do it. So I left and said it's fine, just make sure it's done for next time.

I waited some more weeks, and I called to make sure the camera was done. It was not, apparently because they battery cap still hadn't "come in." I explained my frustration and the saleswoman, who clearly knew this was not good service, assured me she would personally make sure it was done and would personally call me when it was done. She did! And (only because I asked), she said she would give the battery cover for free (a very cheap little piece, I still paid for the work).

Two months later, I finally am able to make it into the store. They have my camera, I pay $50 for whatever they did to it, with the "free" battery cap. Guess what? The battery cap they THEY put in my camera is broken - cracked right in two. I showed it to the nice girls at the desk, and they offered to keep it so Jeff could look at it tomorrow. I said no, it's already been way too long and at this point I can find a battery cap myself.

I hate leaving bad reviews for folks who are obviously very nice people, but the way this business is run is completely disorganized and the ineptitude is apparent. It's so incredibly frustrating to go back and forth for months for such a tiny thing as a battery cap, only to feel like a complete fool at the end of it. There is no solution to make this right, really - what discount or free service would I need now? The free thing you tried to give me for my trouble is already broken, like a cosmic joke. Such a foolish goose chase. I would recommend this place for developing photos but if you need any work actually done, you'll have to go out of your way as customer to stay on top of them to make sure it's done at all, let alone correctly.

I have never written a review before, but after dealing with Brendan at The Photo Center I must share my thoughts. I had been looking everywhere for a specific camera, and to my dismay all the local camera stores and big box stores in my home state of Maryland had the camera on back-order with no promise of a date of delivery. It seemed as if this were also the case with online searches as well until I saw a link for The Photo Center in Brick Township, NJ, which listed the camera as "in stock". When I called to order the camera, Brendan was most helpful in answering all the questions I had as someone new to this type of camera. A week after receiving the camera, wanting to patronize this store again, I called to inquire about a charger for the camera's battery. I must have called at a busy time because I was told that someone would call me back. But no one did. So I wrote an email instead to ask my questions. In it I mentioned that no one had called me back the previous week. Within 15 minutes I received a response from Brendan with not only an apology that no one returned my call, but an order specific to my request that was ready to ship the next business day. In all my years (and they are many) of purchasing all sorts of big ticket items most places forget about customer service once they get your money. NOT SO with The Photo Center. I have never experienced such wonderful and professional customer service in my 70 years! Thank you, and God bless you, Brendan and The Photo Center!

Awesome place relatively close to home.. not many camera stores in NJ and this one has everything! I bought both my RF 50mm and RF 600mm from them and couldn’t be happier! Super friendly staff which is something you don’t see at many places. Will definitely be purchasing more from here.

Great resource for serious photographers. The staff lives and breathes photography. They offer equipment for rent, and host classes and field trips regularly. They also price match B&H Photo. This is a good place for browsing if you are not sure what to buy. You can tell them this, and they are patient and will assist you with anything you need. I hope this place stays put. They are among the last local retailers still providing good, old-fashioned customer service.

The associates at this store are always friendly and willing to listen to your needs and wants and help you verify your purchase or even suggest a different sometimes less expensive option if it fits your needs.

On top of the camera advice,the wonderful people in this store will always be willing to help you figure out your needs based on photo samples or even help you pick the perfect setup from the start.

Highly recommend! They are so helpful and knowledgeable. I get my film developed here and I’ve gotten a few cameras here always great quality. I brought in my dads old camera hoping that they would be able to fix the problem and they have the golden touch. Fixed!

Very difficult to find a camera shop like this anymore. Even more difficult to find someone as nice and helpful as Brendan. Great selection of new and used gear. Even offers rental of high end Nikon and Canon lenses to try before you buy or special occasions. Tons of other stuff as well. This locally owned camera shop deserves your business. Keep 'em going!

Great service and knowledgable staff. This was the only place I could find a 70-200 rental last minute for a basketball game I needed to shoot the next day.

Ended up picking up some film too, I was very happy with selection of 35mm and 120 film. Great selection of vintage film cameras and lenses too.

So thankful this shop exists but wish it was closer to home. Prices are always fair, great selection and run by professionals with extensive knowledge. I've bought new and used lenses from here and rented too. All great experiences.

I love having a local camera store in Brick, and this family-owned business is such a great resource. Well-stocked, with competitive prices for equipment and great options like equipment rentals and layaway plans for bigger purchases. My husband bought me the upgrade camera I wanted as a surprise this year, and Jeff went all in on the surprise to help him pull it off in-store. I've bought multiple used lenses here also, and they have been in great condition and have become some of my go-to's. Knowledgeable, helpful staff, great advice and opportunities for in-store and travel education help make this a favorite local business and must-visit for professionals and hobbyists.

Stopped by today and was given excellent customer service by Amanda despite the fact that there was a power outage and several phone calls coming in. I had asked to compare two different camera bodies, and she was most helpful with any questions I had, and even brought out several lenses for me to try out. Even though there was clearly a lot going on, I felt cared for and not rushed at all. I will be coming back!

Bought a new camera online (well used, but new to me) purchased a lens online thought it was broke bought it up to them, they popped another lens on my camera, it was fine & working great, I'm a very happy person now, extremely helpful staff. I will definitely go there again for all my photography needs. Great prices as well.

Sold my husband’s camera after my husband brought it in to be checked for film and value. It was from the 1940’s. When I googled it the worth was well over a thousand. But my husband wanted a professional to see. When I went in to get it they couldn’t find it. It took them 14 days to check it out!! They told my husband it was dirty. Which is possible… they offered him in the 200’s. Extremely disappointed. My father in law passed away suddenly and the camera sat in its case all these years until my mother in law passed. Now it’s Gone.

One of the few places to have film rolls developed. Friendly service with upfront pricing. Lots of things in store to fulfill all your photography needs. They do request wearing a mask inside, which is fine. Can't wait to go back.

We have purchased many items from this store and went on one of there Excursions. Can’t say enough good things about this store and there employees!! We are return customers ..!! So I have very recently gotten into and started learning film photography. Never once have I stepped through The Photo Centers doors until about July/August of this year. But after only 3-4 visits I can completely understand how they've been able to remain so prominent. A storefront that I can remember seeing for as long as I can remember.

John, if I remember correctly, as I am terrible with names, in particular was just absolutely pleasant. We BS'd for a minute or so while he loading in some newly arrived, but long waited inventory and he mentioned something I wanted to ask about. But my "new to something, you might sound silly" anxiety got the best of me. After a second of delay, I asked and he absolutely abated any of those feelings and happily answered any of questions.

Most places make you feel like a dunce for not being an immediate expert, regardless of topic. This place was far from that and I can't wait to get the text to come pick up my film and have an excuse to go back.

This family run hub for all things photo is a true blessing in our region. From buying upscale products, to popping in and getting over the counter help with camera issues, they are FANTASTIC. SERIOUSLY. I thought I had a major problem with my manual settings on the Nikon D750 I bought and in less than a minute she realized I had some minor setting off and now it’s back to happy days! Thank you, Photo Center!

Really helped us out converting DVD to a flash drive. Family has used The Photo Center many times over the years and always satisfied. Definately recommend.
