Man where to begin. I visited Breckenridge photographics for the first time this week and David provided more then just customer service, He provided a whole experience. This was my second time in breck and I happened to walk by his shop, and boy am I glad I did. The first time I walked in just to buy some film, and he left such an impression on me I had to come back the next day just to hear his story. David was kind enough to give me 3 hours of his time, going into detail on photographs he has taken, expeditions and projects he’s worked on over the years, and so much more wisdom about photography. He and his lovely wife Emily were so kind and provided so much encouraged for me to go further in my photography career. If your in breckinridge, doesn’t matter if you take photos or not, go in and check out his work. I promise you’ll leave feeling inspired to start taking photos!

David has been nothing but knowledgeable to me, and very professional. I originally found his store a few years ago, wandered in because it is truly one of a kind, and I have been coming back since. This past September, I came in to learn more about digital camera's. After spending many days coming in to visit with David, emailing back and forth on a respectable timeline, and many hours of doing my own research I settled on a Canon R6 Mark II. I can not begin to thank David enough for all the time he spent working with me, and how patient and sensible he was in every conversation we had. This past week, I came back in wanting to expand my collection to offer film, and yet again he was so knowledgable to my decision. He ended up setting me up with a fully restored, crisp condition Canon AE-1, a vintage camera strap, and set me up with several rolls of film. For anyone who happens to have a bad encounter with David, I truly believe you are just too immature and too sensitive. As his humor is an acquired taste, so is his knowledge of everything in the photography world. His experience of 40 years is an understatement in my opinion, as his wisdom with cameras is absolutely amazing. I will continue to come back and visit, whether I need new gear or not. 5/5 stars always!

Excited to start shooting on the new lens David set me up with. David and the other nice woman (his wife I believe) were amazing. He went out of his way to answer my questions about shooting film, “helpful” is an understatement. His absolute wealth of knowledge is matched only by his kindness. Thank you David!

David has a breadth of knowledge and experience from what I think is becoming a lost art. If he offered classes I would drive hours just to attend. I have been in many photography shops but this one has been the best one by far. He helped me add to my lenses as well as with the no BS policy gave amazing advice. Thank you David!

Honestly an amazing store. The selection and the knowledge of the staff/owner is amazing. I genuinely don’t understand these comments saying David is a condescending ass. He’s a great guy who’s beyond passionate about sharing the art and knowledge he has to grow the love with the next generation. He sold us a camera a few months ago and gave us a DEEP dive on how the camera works and some much needed(at the time) advice. We took this advice and ran with it and ended up being able to snap some incredible photos on the Durango railroad(see below). All this goes to say go in willing to learn and David will absolutely teach you. Go in with an attitude and entitlement and he’ll let ya know. Thanks again David will absolutely be back!

David was incredibly knowledgeable in helping my daughter choose the right film camera — both for hobby photography and potential professional use. He took the time to walk her through everything, was direct and patient with all of her questions, and did it all while juggling multiple other customers. He clearly knows his stuff and gets straight to the point without any fluff.

If you need anything camera-related purchased or questions answered, David is your person. Highly recommend!

Stopped by earlier this month in search of a camera bag. I called in advance and spoke with David, who gave me a brief rundown of his inventory. He showed our family a number of options and helped guide us to the right choice. Plus his store is a gallery showcasing his inspirational work all over the world. Great that an owner-operator like him is a Breck institution!

I walked into the store with my boyfriend fully expecting to quietly browse, nod politely, and leave without touching anything expensive. Instead, I walked out with a whole new appreciation for the craft.

We met David Pfau, the legendary photographer himself, and let me tell you, the man is eccentric in the best possible way. The kind of eccentric that only comes from knowing your craft so deeply that rules become suggestions. He doesn’t just know cameras. He KNOWS cameras. Inside, outside, history, mechanics, soul. And the wild part? He actually wants to share that knowledge. No gatekeeping. Just pure passion.

David and his wife Emily were beyond lovely, welcoming, warm, and genuinely excited to show us around. We talked gear, stories, and photography like it was a casual hang rather than walking into a shop run by a literal master of the craft. He showed us cameras with the enthusiasm of a kid showing you their favorite toys, not trying to upsell you, just trying to infect you with the joy of it all.

I came in slightly intimidated. I left inspired, informed, and honestly a little buzzed from how cool the experience was.

If you’re into photography, even a little, this place is a must. If you’re not? Go anyway. You might accidentally fall in love with cameras, art, or at the very least, meet one of the most memorable shop owners ever. ✨

Was looking for a 2.5f 135mm telephoto lens for my minolta x-700. Called ahead about finding the lens which he said he had, setup an appt to come in and brought my camera. Once we got there he didn’t have the lens he thought he had. He “made a mistake” thinking he had the lens I was looking for. We drove an hour (50 miles) specifically to go this shop for a mistake. He wasted our time. Unprofessional. Should have verified inventory when I setup appt

Do not come here, and do not bring in your camera in to David for any reason.

Went to get a film roll and some knowledge, left with a film roll, a broken camera and unbelievable anger. After man-handling my shutter mirror on my AE-1 and snapping my shutter spring as a result, he continued to break the notoriously delicate battery compartment door on the body, stole my battery and then tried to sell me on a $200 repair for something he broke. I took such good care of my camera and For many years, I just dropped off a completed roll last week, and planned on using it for Thanksgiving. All out the window now. I will never return to this shop, and I will go literally ANYWHERE else for anything photography or film related.

Edit: Not only are you dishonorable and dishonest, you shift the blame for the shutter you broke onto me because of some dirt in a well used and beloved family heirloom? I used that camera, I learned on it, my father taught me about it through his love of photography, and you dare to avoid accepting fact that your ignorance broke my camera. A camera you yourself claim you have restored diligently, but showed how false that is by negligently handling my camera without even asking any questions about it and just handling it like some broken trash I pulled out of my closet. Adding to your ignorance, you with your "40 years" experience should have diagnosed a broken shutter immediately for what it was, and not trying to change a battery, which you kept, and breaking the notoriously fragile battery door by opening it without the proper tool. Shame and curses on you and your establishment, because of your negligence and complete incompetentce I have to spend time and money to find an actual professional repair specialist to fix this, cost be damned. I should demand you pay for it, but since I know far too late now that you are an dishonorable man, I won't waste my breath with it. Be better Mr.David, and reflect on your actions so as to avoid causing more suffering to peoples valuable sentimental items, that they trust in your unfortunate care.

I've known David for over 10 years and have bought a number of cameras over this time span (the latest a few weeks ago). I've found him to be very knowledgeable and honest and I value his opinion. He is personable and willing to help and teach all things related to photography.

I have visited this store several times. Each time I come away with more knowledge. At David’s suggestion I went with the new canon mirrorless camera. It’s the best photographic decision I have made. David went out of the way to show me all of the bells and whistles. Also, he matched the New York City stores’ prices.

The owner of the store is a very bad salesman, very condescending and does not know how to talk to people. Kept stroking his ego about how much money he makes and how he bought a $60,000 camera and can afford to live anywhere he wants. Came in to buy a camera and seemed like he did not want to sell to me for some reason (maybe cause I said I was from Texas) along with him not charging his battery for his cameras to even try. I asked how long would it take to even turn on and he said 3 hours which is very hard to believe and we asked when he closed then proceeded to say he wasn’t open. He said he has multiple stores across the country including Switzerland which I asked if he’s ever been there and he said to my face “that’s a stupid question” like what, Ronald McDonald dosent go to every McDonald he owns. I would never go back to this place and I feel bad for anyone who goes in and has the misfortune to talk to David.

David was a joy to meet. I just stumbled across his place walking the Breckenridge strip and was immediately in awe of his collection from the window. As an analog shooter myself I had to see what he had going on. He was kind. Very informative. And willing to share his experiences in the industry with me. After my trip I managed to get in contact with him to purchase a spot meter that I was eyeing and he shipped it directly to me. I just got my first roll developed taking it for a test run and I'm happy to say it works perfectly (photo is of the test roll, not David's store). So yeah, shoutout to David. He's a real one and I'd gladly do business with him in the future.

Stumbled in with my girlfriend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. David took the time to share his knowledge and stories. Will be stopping by on our next trip to Breckinridge.

David was so helpful! My husband was having camera troubles and he figured out what was wrong/ made recommendations on what we could do. We ended up buying a camera from him and he was thorough in making sure my husband knew how to work it.

I wandered into the store on vacation, and though I loved looking at art, I always thought that buying a film camera was out of my budget. I was surprised that all the cameras were reasonably priced and well maintained. The owner, David, is incredibly knowledgeable and was able to suggest a camera that fit me and was in my budget! He definitely knew that I had no experience with film cameras, but encouraged me to learn more. Our conversation was fun and by far one of the highlights of my trip. I feel confident that the camera I bought is good quality, and I can say that for everything in the store. There is a clear love that David has and it was truly an amazing opportunity to talk with someone who has that kind of passion.

I came across this place by chance while skiing in Breckenridge for the week and I was absolutely blown away by the selection of incredible cameras, lenses, film, and other various photographic equipment. I then met David who was an absolute joy to talk to. I could’ve easily listened to him talk for hours on end. I learned so much from him and he has such wonderful stories. His knowledge and love of photography is truly unmatched. After lengthy discussions I ended up buying a camera, lens and some film and I am more than happy with my purchase. I’ve never come across a photography store as impressively stocked as this one and I’ve never met a photographer as knowledgeable, talented and celebrated as David. I can’t wait to come back and buy more stuff from him.

David was extremely passionate and knowledgeable about art and photography. My friend and I stopped in during our short trip to Breckenridge and made wonderful conversation about our ambitions in the arts and David’s impressive career as a photographer! The store has a great selection of camera equipment and accessories. Prints are beautiful as well. Overall, David clearly has a wealth of knowledge in the arts and maintains a diverse selection of cameras/equipment.

Walked in and just talked to the owner briefly and he's an egotistical, unfriendly individual. He will talk down to you, and numerously express his "40 years of experience" along with all of his accolades of success. Plus all the signage indicating the same thing he verbally says. Good for you pal, great photography, but your personality is trash.

David saved the day twice in last 4 months. Once he used a camera tool wrench to tighten a nut that I was about to lose which attached my camera to my tripod. Just a week ago, w/the most white overexposed environment from snow, David helped me with the proper darkness if a Neutral Density filter to match the long shutter speeds I needed. David is a devoted career photographer who today increases my spirit to learn the most about the craft that I want. He’ll step outside the front door of his shop, in the sunlight and help you learn and understand the use and details of your lens, your filter or whatever it is you want to purchase. His 40 times of published covers is his humbled-side-manner. I never knew for a couple of years about his career history and was amazed how giving he is of quality camera information. I continued to return due to his long passion in photography and I trust his knowledge. If you need gear, filters, quick fixes, lenses, every mountain enthusiast photographer is well taken care of by David and his shop. Never hesitate to ask him for help you regarding photography. -D. Came into the shop to window shop after long considering film as a hobby but had no idea where to start. David walked me through different options and gave me unbiased pros and cons for each option. We spent over an hour discussing which camera best suited my interests and I left with a camera I’m excited to explore. He has encyclopedic knowledge from an impressive education and career in photography. I really appreciate that he didn’t talk down to me as a novice. Thank you for a nice intro to film, David!

David is amazing. My son is interested in photography and David took him under his wing to teach him about photography, growing his love & knowledge in ways that we as parents are so thankful for. For someone with a lifetime of experience such as David has, we are so thankful for his care and investment in the next generation of photographers.

Left this shop with a bad experience. The owner seemed to be interested in having conversation but was incredibly condescending and arrogant. I am interested in getting into film photography but feel like the owner didn't give any helpful information and almost turned me away from it while also complaining that film is a dying art. I wish he could be more of an inspiration to younger photographers because his work was good, but I'd hate for young photographers be turned off by his arrogance.

Edit: In reply to the owner, I specifically asked about rangefinder cameras and he told me something along the lines of "an artist could use any camera, it doesn't matter what you use" I never said anything about online shopping...

Went in to this shop to see if the view finder of my film camera could be replaced. Not only was the owner rude and condescending but he pocketed my lens cap. When I asked him where it went he refused to check his pockets and said that I must have left it in the car. I watched him take the lens cap off my camera to check the view finder. After a few minutes of intense conversation he gave me a used lens cap that doesn’t fit as well.

Without any prior planning during our stay in Breckenridge, we took a stroll down main street and came across the cutest little photography store. We were greeted by the sweetest Elwood, closely followed by his owner, David. David's passion is contagious. I mentioned I had toyed with the idea of shooting film, but never knew where to start, or what a good beginner camera would be. Before I knew it, he had the perfect camera and lens for me on the brand I use. I left the store feeling excited - like when I picked up my very first camera. Overnight, I realized I didn't know how to load the film, so we walked back, and he took the time to show me how to do it properly. Come in ready and with a desire to learn to make the most of your visit! What an incredible experience to interact with someone who has worked for National Geographic.

David was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when purchasing a new used camera and lens. With just some prior experience in photography, David took his time explaining each of the cameras I was deciding between, went over camera functions, and even provided me some great tips to get started on my photography journey. His camera selection is huge and with his background as a professional photographer, I swear he can answer any question you have for him. I wish I could give David more than 5 stars as I will definitely be back! If anyone is in the market, come here you won’t regret it!

I have never been steered in the wrong direction at Breck Photo. Every question that I have asked the owner, David, has been responded to thoughtfully and I can tell that he takes my work as seriously as he takes his own. When I have problems, particularly in the landscape realm, I know that he is the man to help me find a solution. I have received honest and practical advice on composition, lighting, how to deal with the intensity of the Colorado sun in mid day shooting, and many other things.

In everything, experience is key. I am glad that we have this shop in Summit County. There are many problems I would still be stumbling to find solutions to.

When researching online, we find a lot of information that doesn’t necessarily help us or come from non advertising incentives. I prefer to ask the person/group who has been there/done that, with the most experience to offer.

Invaluable resource and quality local business.

As a tourist I came by only to browse, however I left very impressed with David’s knowledge and passion about photography. It’s great to see there’s people out there willing to teach an absolute stranger so much about their work and watching him talk so eagerly about his work made him very trustworthy in my eyes. I’d love to come back someday even if it came off a bit pricy for my budget. Totally worth it!

To say David is a fountain of knowledge is an understatement - he is an expert in his field. He graciously shared his experience with my group and I today for over an hour. His shop is a treasure in Breckenridge - his daughter was very welcoming as well as his dog Elwood. I hope to be able to pop in the next time me or my friends have photography needs in Breckenridge.

I would give no stars if I could. Shop owner looked like he would rather not be working there and also verbally let us know how much he hated it. We tried to initiate a friendly greeting and he responded in the most bizarre and rude way. Photographs were typical poor quality and overpriced to tourists. It's too bad, he seemed to have a wealth of knowledge about cameras and film. His attitude is what killed it for us and he lost out on the possibility of a substantial sale on camera equipment.

Went to the store as bystander while my girlfriend was shopping, but walked out as a photography fan. Not just another camera store. Must visit.

I’ve been several times in my 4 years in summit, always trying to get 35mm cameras fixed from this shop. The owner dave, I think, never took one in, last time he told me to get another body and maybe he will fix it but charge me $200 for it. Well, shutter speed button was not working on my rangefinder and he said that all the mechanics are like a “car clutch”, I asked if he could possibly try to fix it with no extra body but he refuse. that afternoon tried to fix it myself and it worked, it was a loose screw, dave you could have gotten $200 for just trying to fix it!

David was PHENOMENAL. This man is a wealth of knowledge if you’re willing to humble yourself, listen, and ask questions. He spent two hours with us answering questions and expounding on anything we could ask in order to better our group as photographers. He’s been there and done it all, and that’s why to some he may come across as curt. He doesn’t want to talk about the fluff, he wants to get into the meat of photography and educate. If you go the store acting like you know it all, you’ll be passing up an opportunity to acquire unprecedented knowledge. Always ask questions, even when you don’t know what to ask.

This is a fantastic gem of a store that I am incredibly grateful for!

There are many prints on display for sale for those of you visiting, but I'm going to focus this review more on photography equipment. FYI.

David is extremely knowledgeable about photography as both an art and a science, and he has always been willing to give me all the advice I can take. And that's on a variety of photography subjects. And with this advice, I've never felt pressured to buy anything in exchange for the advice.

The prices are on on par with Amazon, which reasonable prices in this town are uncommon! They even go so far as to print the Amazon page for many of the camera products, and put it with the product, so you know you aren't getting price gouged.

I love the selection here too. They seem to have all the photography categories, camera bodies (new and old), lenses, bags, lenses, batteries, filters, etc. I wanted to buy a camera bag about a month ago, and David wouldn't let me buy it until brought my gear in, loaded the bag up with what I would put in it, and actually tried it on. I think that is an important story to tell, because that is an experience you won't get at Best Buy or buying online.

The biggest downside for me, living in Summit County, is that everything is in Denver. Especially something as niche as photography. I really can't express how grateful I am to have this store in town. I've only had positive experiences here, and I hope you get a chance to support this local small business as well!

The experience was phenomenal! I came in because I forgot the memory card for my Nikon at home in Denver and forgot exactly what I needed, and the man behind the camera took one look and knew exactly what I needed! He was so wonderfully knowledgeable on cameras, photography, the industry as a whole... and the photography around the store was incredible! Was a phenomenal experience all around!

To get the most from your visit, enter the store with a beginner's mind. Prepare to listen and ask questions, it is worth the visit just for the discussion of all things photographic. And the big Yellow Labrador will let you scratch their belly while you chat. In the end, I felt that I left with both high value for my dollar AND an experts knowledge of how to get the most from my gear. Plan to have the time to enjoy this shopping/learning experience. I liked that I had a chance to try out the piece of gear before adding to my bag. In my case it was a neutral density filter which I was able to add onto my lens and take a couple shots just outside the shop. Back in the shop, I could review the shots and see where the colors and shadows were improved in this high mountain light. I also took the time check out the array of camera bags and refresh my kit carrier. The happy surprise was finding that a new Vanguard VEO2 PRO multi-axis tripod was inside my budget. I don't upgrade often, I like to shoot with a piece of glass or kit until it fails me. But when I upgrade, I am going to wait until I come back up to Breckenridge.

I didn't even get his name which I feel bad because names are super important. I'm just a beginner with 2 years in wanted to be inspired which I was because his pictures were beautiful. Both people there were super friendly. I would highly recommend this gallery/shop. They were very attentive, knowledge and helpful. I could have talked shop for hours but was with my husband so I was being mindful to his time. They sell backpacks, the one I had didnt fit properly, he took the time to help me find a great fitting back pack. Extra bonus, he didn't look down on me for having beginner camera equipment and confirmed you don't need top of the line equipment to take great pictures.

Just Bought a digital camera from here and was told I was able to change the quality of the photos to make them look vintage and stop motion videos. Either of those are in the settings and i am definitely dissatisfied in it after being convinced. I just looked the camera up online and it’s going for $120 this guy sold it to me for $220 so definitely price match before buying ANYTHING!

The owner met us with "You are talking to a National Geographic photographer of (x) amount of years. I have been featured in..*proceeded with his accolades* .." It felt awkward, so we left without looking at the vintage cameras or to see what kind of film the store carried.

I have been coming into this shop for the past 10 years on our annual visits. I am always been welcomed and treated professionally. David takes time to learn the needs of each customer and I have seen him multitask with several customers at once and dealing with phone calls. He gives each customer personal attention even when there is a crowd. He is great at providing advice and guidance. I started out with a CoolPix because my skill set was point and shoot. Last year David spent several hours with me as other customers came and went listening to what I wanted to do next in photography. He pointed me at several options and I purchased a Canon OES 6D from him. He gave me a basic tutorial and his offer to always come back or call if I have questions or concerns, and I am just amazed. Besides being impossible for the Camera to take a bad picture. I am learning new things every day with it. Photography has become my passion now that I am retired and can devote time to it. You bet on my next trip I will stop in for a big thank you and if he's not busy gather some more of his picture taking wisdom. Much Thanks! Carlos

David, the owner of the store, was very difficult to work with. If there was any other option in Summit County for what I needed (a specific lens), I would have paid a hefty premium to avoid supporting this store. He was very belittling and rude -- each statement seemed carefully chosen to maximize the damage to our business relationship.

It's a shame, because David's work truly is good, and he has a great collection of manual/film photography gear. Perhaps I caught David on a bad day, but based upon other reviewers, I don't think this is the case.

Stopping in this store was the best thing we did in Breckenridge. It was a true pleasure talking to David. He is a wealth of knowledge about cameras and Colorado. His generous recommendations and advice greatly enriched our trip. I'd gone in to pick up some Portra 400 35mm film and he kindly steered me towards the Ektar 100 for landscape photography. I just got some of my prints back from that trip and the Ektar 100 blows the Portra 400 of the water. Unbelievable. I'll never go back to Portra 400 for landscapes. This feels like one of the last authentic independently-owned businesses in Breckenridge. A real treasure. I'll be back and I hope it's there for many years to come.

Visited this shop just to browse. The owner is the most arrogant person I have ever met in my life. It is interesting to hear that he is a published National Geographic photographer, but to bring it up the amount of times he does is ridiculous. WE GET IT. It’s blatantly obvious he thinks he is better than others. Disgusting and quite sad. Only would go back to be entertained by his bafoonery. One of a kind experience.

David (the owner) is an upstanding guy and is exceptionally smart in all aspects of photography. His creative eye in combination with his technical knowledge really shows in his outstanding artwork. I have been visiting his shop for about a year now and I can't recommend this store enough. The knowledge I have received at Breckenridge Photographics is invaluable and I will be returning for years to come.

First of all, it's absolutely incredible to find a camera store that is independently owned and operated. My wallet is probably very happy that I don't live down the street from B&H. I'm an Amazon fan, but I prefer to support local businesses first and foremost. One of the many things I love about going into Breckenridge Photographics is that the owner, David, has wealth of experience and advice and is like an in-person Amazon review. He'll tell me if there's a product he's not particularly impressed with, or if there's one that he loves. He's not going to make an unnecessary or non-beneficial recommendation because he's not being bankrolled by Nikon, Canon, Sony, etc. If something isn't in the shop, he'll order it in. He cleans sensors and takes care of repairs (and all locally!) As a fellow professional, I appreciate his honesty and authenticity in a time when people will try to sell you anything.

The guys here are so great! Brought in an older camera I got at a garage sale and they looked t it, made sure it was working, taught me so much about it and how to use it and were all around a joy and so helpful! Plus they had so many cameras for sale of all kinds at decent prices! Would recommend.

He knows his stuff! He’s helped me with my introduction to the film world on multiple occasions. David has a lot of passion and loves to educate photographers with his extensive knowledge. I’m happy to say I have my local photo shop in my town ✌️📸

Great experience. Stopped in to check out camera bags, and was shown two options to consider based on my general needs. I was able to quickly identify the perfect backpack to fit my needs, and also offer some flexibility for our family travel. The price was excellent, especially given the high quality of the pack. Highly recommend.

The owner, David, was extremely helpful and professional. I am a high schooler who loves photography and he was patient with me and gave me the advice and help i was looking for. It was a very educational but fun experience. I truly appreciated everything he was willing to explain and show me. Not only did i walk out of his store with more knowledge and ideas, but also two stunning prints and the exact filter i need for the coming solar eclipse. I Highly recommend his store and printing services over others in the area, wether your a professional or just like photography, Davids work and business is like none other.

Stopped in with the intention of upgrading from my Nikon D850. However, the man that was working was an absolute misogynist. He was rude and insulting, trying to 'mansplain' the Nikon lineup to me. My husband agreed that we would rather buy online than give him my business. Do better.

I’ve recently been visiting breckenridge photographics and have enjoyed every visit more and more. David is a great photographer who is more than willing to tell you the story behind every photograph in his store. I buy film from here and always end up spending at least and hour talking to david about something whether it be photos or cameras. A truly knowledgeable photographer and artist. 10/10 would recommend this shop.

I don't leave many reviews and rarely do I leave bad ones, but if you're a photographer just avoid this shop.

I wandered in hoping to just have a fun time looking around a photography shop and maybe chatting with the owner or whoever was there about their photography and if some interesting gear caught my eye maybe buy something.

I did end up talking to the owner, but it wasn't pleasant. Every comment from him was either bragging about his $50,000 processing equipment or condescending digital photography. All this with clear implications of what he thought about anyone he didn't judge a true photographer (which seemed like literally anyone that wasn't him) I managed to maintain a polite demeanor and eventually he seemed to chill out, but I never want to talk to that guy again.

All in all if you avoid this shop you will have a more pleasant and fun stay in Breckenridge.

Edit: my advice the owner is just be kind. I honestly would've loved to hear about all your gear and process and I had a lot of questions I wanted to ask you, but your condescension was such a turn off I just wanted to leave.

Edit 2: The response to my review is apparently a canned response. I don't know what I asked him "to be honest" about and I didn't have a friend with me. This response exemplifies the issue. I am not knocking the owners abilities or career. He is clearly very accomplished. The pride and denigration of others is the issue I had.

David cleaned my Canon 6D the other day and he did a better job than Canon Professional Services does! I can't recommend him highly enough for his technical skills.

He also offers camera gear at B & H prices. And has the finest gallery of fine art prints of Colorado in Breckenridge.

Stop by his store in La Cima Mall in Breckenridge. You won't be disappointed.

I went to David's shop looking for a circular polarizer, which I forgot to bring with me, for one of my lenses. David turned out to be a fount of knowledge and helped me get pick not only the right polarizer but also a neutral density filter. He made recommendations after asking what I was planning to shoot, my style etc. Turned out to be great recommendations. I went back a second time and Dave took the time to review my pictures, offer suggestions on how to improve some of them and, in his enthusiastic style, shared some of his hard earned knowledge on how to take great pictures. He shared locations of great out of the way scenicscenic , including printed driving directions, to take amazing pictures. Evidence of his skills and abilities are all around the shop and some of his prints are truly amazing. I was so impressed I ended up buying 3 of his prints. Can't say enough good things about Dave. He's a pro and a gentleman. Here's also a very good salesman 😁 He'll sell you a lot more things than you went in looking to buy. I would recommend Dave and his store highly to anyone looking for photography equipment, advice and good conversation. He's a keeper.

My family and I stopped into the shop while visiting from Texas. We bought two beautiful pieces and had a great experience interacting with the owner about Colorado and his work. We also enjoyed interacting with his dog! He also had some good advice for my daughter about purchasing a camera, and the shortcomings of her current camera. We didn’t take the advice as condescending, but rather were happy to listen. People are so sensitive these days! Do yourself a favor and stop in if you are in Breck. We will visit again next time we are in Colorado.

Apparently from the reviews you either love this guy or really dislike him. Count me in the latter category. The reviewers that had a negative experience always use the words arrogant and condescending. In my opinion that is pretty spot on. I came in on a whim interested in a polarizing filter for my camera. I am relatively new to photography and had little idea what one of those might cost. The owner told me that the filter was $120 regularly and on sale for half price ($60). Having done no research I really had no idea what the price should be. After I bought the filter I asked for some recommendations on the better places to shoot landscapes. His response was, “just look around you, man”. I left the store and began to have second thoughts about doing business with this guy. When I returned to our lodging I looked up the cost on line and found it ranging from $22-$34. I expect to pay a bit more at local small businesses and often choose to frequent them whether at home or on vacation. I decided to return the item the next day. He asked what was wrong with it and I explained that it was too much higher than other sources, particularly on line. He absolutely lost it and went on a complete rant about how “people like me are destroying our country”. He went on to slam Jeff Bezos and informed me that B&H Photo sends money to Israel! (Was this an anti-Semitic comment...you’d have to ask him). I’m not sure who his clientele typically are but I am retired and on a budget. He admitted that his regular price is 6x his cost so I should be satisfied paying nearly 3x. To imply that he is due such profit margins because he is a small business is the height of arrogance and entitlement. Again, I like to frequent small businesses. I support them because they are often at a competitive disadvantage. They are also typically kind, helpful and grateful for the business. In conclusion, I completely agree with him that there are people whose attitudes are detrimental to our country. I suggest the owner look in the mirror for an excellent example.

I bought some equipment from this shop not to long ago and was very happy with my experience. The owner, David was actually knowledgeable about photography...something that is hard to come by these days! It was refreshing and his advice to me was priceless. I’ll definitely be visiting again!

This place is horrible if you are a photographer. Didn’t get in the door two steps before I was being insulated. I was then not impressed by customer appeal he just asked if we needed help three times a minute before I walked out a few minutes later feeling completely disappointed that I couldn’t have a civil conversation about something we are all interested in. David just wanted to help us or kick us out. Didn’t even feel I was welcome to the shop. Walked in wanting to trade my camera and was instantly greeted with rudeness.

PS David there is a thing called a time out timer on cameras that turns the sensor off after a set time. Have fun turning your camera on ever time you take a photo and hope you have fun taking pictures at the wrong white balance.
